HEALING FOR YOU: Finding Answers Together

Hello: As a posting to my first blog, I wanted to take the time to introduce the things that make naturopathic medicine special. Our philosophy sets us apart and guides our thoughts and treatments

1. Treat the whole person: You are not just a kidney or pancreas. You’re a whole person and what happens in one system greatly affects how well your other systems work. I treat “all of you.”
2. Find the cause: I’m all about asking the continual “why” and treating the cause. I’m happy to give relief from symptoms, but I don’t stop there.
3. Given half a chance, the body wants to move toward healing. Given the right nutrition and lifestyle choices, healing can happen. We all know garbage in, garbage out—doesn’t work.
4. Doctor as teacher: The Latin word for “doctor” comes from the word that means “teacher.” Learning about the body and about health and disease is important so you can make better choices and realize the importance of them. I love to teach for those who love to learn..
5. Preventive medicine: It is much easier to prevent something than to patch things up after the fact. Ideally, I help people to make choices that enable them to avoid health concerns later on. However, I address anyone, anytime with ways to improve health. There is always hope as long as you are not six feet under!

In the future, I will chat about a number of things including: general comments on treating various conditions, use of household remedies, announcement of special events and practice news, and my commentary on current medical headlines. Feel free to email me with general questions. Though I can‘t answer specific medical questions without an appointment, I can supply brief, general information on how naturopathic medicine would approach a particular issue.

I treat the whole family, focusing on chronic disease. I especially enjoy children and their issues including digestion, allergies and behavioral issues.
I use nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, and naturopathic counseling.
